Daisy Diary

Daisy's Diary is composed in a number of ways, in the early stage, both Marina and Rosita impersonate Daisy and later on we wrote for Daisy, pretending we could understand her. Do we really, we really  don't know.

Daisy is confused - leaving home and back home again

I was happily at home with my family when late at night we had visitors. I was very excited of course, with new people. I got patted by the little one, as the bigger one just talked with my owners. My owner started to take my belongings like food, and put a leash on me. This meant a walk! It was quite strange that they were taking me on a walk so late, but I didn’t mind. I love walks. We came to the front door and my owners started making a fuss about me, with kisses and hugs. This was walk often, even sometimes with visitors. So I don’t know why this was so special, but I wanted a walk so I went. Now here is where things get really strange, the two visitors, well the little one took me out without my owners for a walk. This was weird but may be that explains why the walk is so late. My owners felt bad for not taking me for a walk during the day so they got someone else to . This still didn’t add up. What about my siblings and parents? What about their walk? Then it got even stranger !

After the late evening walk, the little one walked out of the room with the big one, I sat obediently ready to be called, but the door shut and they were gone. Just me and family now. Again i was confused, how many times can some be confused in a day? This all made some sense i was looked after by new people but taken back, maybe it was because my main owners disappeared as well. I dunno but I'm happy back at home with company, and what ever the leaving was called it was a great experience, maybe i will see the little one again, or even the bigger one, you never know.

Daisy is even more confused

My life changes again on 7th May 2016. I was lifted into a stranger’s car. The drive or should I say torture, lasted forever, I felt so sick. Just when I thought I couldn’t last another second, it stopped. We were at a place with many many people all wearing the same thingy. I saw the little one who also wear the same thing. the little one was astounded to seeing me. She sat in the back with me and patted me. Very soon, I was lifted to the ground of the house I had been a few months ago.

I was left outside. I felt scared and lonely, so I decided to try and find people. I searched and sniffed and realised there was this weird gate around the house. There was no problem for the great Daisy. I fitted tight through the bars just. This place was pretty big and dark. Then after ages, I heard someone and I ran back through the bars and the little one was there. She was surprised and quickly called the bigger one, she was angry. I don’t know why and she started moving things to block the bars. Now I was called by the little one to go inside. It was much nicer and cosier here. [A piece of steel wire mesh was put to stop me from going through the bar].

Then I was locked into a room, a small room. There was a bed and water. I didn’t like it in there so I showed that and barked on the door. Soon enough the little one came in and gave me food ! It was the best ! I went very quickly and soon it was gone. Now I was again facing the fact that I was trapped in a rom. I wanted to get out, I was lonely. So I bashed, scratched and whined. Soon enough the little one came in, I was excited and wagged my tail. She didn’t look happy and kept saying NO! I wonder what that means. Anyway she pointed to my bed, I am not stupid , I got the message. So I hopped into the bed and she then turned off the light.
The door was then shut again. It was dark again , and I missed the warmth of my family. I couldn’t sleep,  I needed someone I could cuddle up with , or at least not feel trapped. So I whined and howled but the message was not received. How stupid could that be? So I continued until I felt asleep from exhaustion. i woke up with a very sore throat and still in the small room, i wanted out. So i whined again, even with my sore throat i pushed through. Eventually the bigger one came and let me out, i was so happy about exploring the place, but then i was ordered outside. I have to say i like the little one more, but underneath i think the  bigger one likes me so i keep trying. Although the bigger one does yell a LOT and i don’t actually know what she want, but she's entertaining.

Well I have now come to a full understanding of why I am here, either I have been sold by my previous owners, or being looked after for a short period of time. Either way its not too bad here i get the place to myself, but i do miss company once the big and little one leave the house, and I'm not really allowed in the house to casually walk around i am grounded to my bed, which is boring. Anyway here are a few very strange thing that happen to me in this time here.

Bathing

At one stage in time i was dunked into a sink of warm water, having no idea why. I guess i like being in water but then it started to get cold and it felt horrible having wet fur clinging to you. I was scrubbed in this soap and then rinses, this whole process took forever in my opinion. I had water in my eyes and big purple hand holding me still. Every now and then i would shake my self to get the excess water off, and that was accompanied by a small yelp by the little one as i sprayed her with water. At least she got the feel of whats it is like !

Anyway shaking was useless as soon enough  another lot of water is dunked on me and I'm drenched, again. Oh well… at least it stopped after it was clearly over due and every inch of me was soggy. After this ordeal i was still wet and big towels wrapped be like a burrito, paws and all. I eventually squirmed out of this trap, still wet, but at least it couldn’t get any worse than this. Lets just say i spoke too soon, way too soon… the worse was yet to come. A giant pink thing was pulled out, shaped as a gun, pointing at me. Now at this stage i forget common sense, and think about my safety first, and by that i mean run around so the pink gun can’t point at me. Then it gets even worse, it starts making a load machinery noises. Forget being shot, i won’t even hear the shot! i’ll be deaf after this if i even survive! Now this thing continuously follows me around the room as i run and struggle. The little girl keeps telling me to come and sit in front of her, patting the ground and everything, but I'm not falling for that! If it were not for the door i would be a mile away from this house in a second. Now i think a bit more and realise struggling isn’t going to help me, soon enough they are going to get me. So i curl up in the corner and tuck my head in and wait. Now i realise that the pink gun it blowing warm air at me. How peculiar!!! Anyway the sound stops and the gun is put away. Haha must have fooled them, but now come to think of it, the warm air has dried me mostly. You idiot you stupid idiot!!  that was all that could come into my mind, It was a hair dryer!!!!! how could i have been so stupid! I was even thinking about how to attack the pink gun, and now is all revealed, a simple hairdryer, sigh… Well how bout we just forget about this whole incident?, yeah, yeah, all in the past… Who’s calling me stupid now?

Fetching a toy

Now of many things i have done in my life time a clump of rubber never interested me, well who would be interested in a clump of rubber? Exactly! so it is very strange to find humans like to throw rubber. It all started like this, on no particular day the little one came out of the house holding the clump or rubber, now lets give it a name for now, “hotdog” yeah there we go, since it was shaped and coloured like a hotdog. Now for starters, she threw it and looked expectantly at me, as i was supposed to do something special. I had no idea what that special thing was so i sat down and looked at her. she then walked over to the thrown object and called me to come, so at came to her and sat down. Then obviously confused as in why i didn’t do what she wanted me to, she changed tactics and started waving the hotdog in front of my nose. This was merely annoying so i pushed it away with my muzzle, and sat closer to her. At this stage I'm bored and just want a pat, but humans are consistent animals. Now she is putting this near my mouth. I obviously bite it since, IT’S IN MY MOUTH! but anyway i realise i quite like biting this hotdog. So i start chewing it, but right where I'm enjoying it, she pulled it out my mouth and wriggles it around my nose again. I go and bite it again an she moves it to the side. This was actually really fun trying to grab hold of it, but then i was confused again, because now she throws it away, what a waste! but being me i want to chew it so i run after it and start chewing it. She then calls me back so i drop it and go to her. She seems very exited but slightly disappointed when i come back to her, what more could she want? I already stopped my beloved chewing to come to her! Then she walked back to the hotdog and pick it up, squeaked it, wriggled it in my face then threw it. Again seriously!!! anyway I'm starting to enjoy chasing moving things so i ran after it. now it’s stopped moving it’s not that exiting any more, but i guess i can still chew it so i picked it up. Then She calls me too her again, and as i have the hotdog in my mouth i take a few steps drop it and continue to walk to her. This time she is more exited and walks to the hot dog, wriggles it in my face. I am so exited as i want to chase so i jump up and try to grab it. Then she throws the hotdog and i chase after it and pick it up. This time i think strategically i want her to throw it as fast as possible because i want to chase after it, and last time when i brought it closer to her, the faster she could throw it instead of walking further towards it. So if i bring it to her she will straight away throw it! So i pick up the hotdog and place it at her feet. She looks like i’v just saved the world and quickly gives me a treat and a pat. Wow i finally got what i wanted in the first place, a pat with a extra treat. Well that whole process took ages but i have now figured that i like to chase things that move, and i can “fetch” as she always says when she throws the hotdog.

Training

In the morning the bigger one always lets me outside in the early morning and then later the little one appears and feeds me. Now on this morning i was very exited to be getting my breakfast as i was very hungry, like always. This time she walked out empty handed, well not completely, she was holding a small black device. Now i sit patiently for food and she keep holding the rectangular device in front of her face and a little click sound keep coming out of this device. After each click she moves to a different position and tell me to sit or come. I am now getting impatient as i am hungry and start to sit closer to her near her feet. She kept moving back so i follow her, then she told me to go back. I don’t know what any of this was for but i was now bored and hungry, and realise that i wasn’t getting food any time soon. So i lied down and the device went click click click. She then went inside and i was very happy, thinking food at last but then she came out with a handful of the biscuits, no food bowl. I was very confused but didn’t care as long as i got food, but instead of giving it to me she held it high up above my nose. One at a time in-between the thumb and index finger. Now i look up and sit obediently staring at the biscuit.

She kept teasing me putting it near my nose and then lifting it higher. I just about had enough of this and jumped onto my hind legs and took it out of her hands. At this stage i thought she would be angry at me defeating the point of her holding it so high up, but to my amazement  she was over the moon, patting me and everything.  Then this process continued half way through my breakfast, me jumping up to receive my food. Then after that she put the rest at ground level in my blue bowl. I much prefer this, but whatever it takes to get food I'm cut out for it.
Anyway, Daisy has been trained well by Marina to be able to speak (bark), paw (give her hand) and stay and sit. Plus to roll on her tummy and perform a 360 turn. She is a clever dog and we all enjoy having her as our companion. she has brought us lots of joy.

Daily Walk

Now for my exercise I of course expect a walk, these are fun experiences running around the grass with my family, but here it is a different story. The park the little one takes me to is HUGE! It has two playgrounds and an oval in the middle, but no family to play with. The walk are not as fun as i don’t get off the lead much, for some reason every time a dog appear i am then buckled straight back onto the leash. Although mind you when we have experienced another dog off the lead things don’t go exactly to plan. Mostly i get too exited and run towards the other dog and then they run toward me exited as well, then they look to big and intimidating suddenly and I'm not so keen to meet them any more. So i run back to the little one, but then the other dog runs after me and i have to run for my life at full speed while they follow. Only when i make it back to the little one i stop running and so does the other dog. Thanks god, for the little one she must scare the other dogs so they stop running. Every time i go back to the little one she always says “ Silly Daisy if you run away the other dogs chase you and think it’s a game, if you don’t run they won’t chase you” I never knew what it meant but as long as she’s there the other dogs stop running, and that's good.

Swimming

One day a funny tune rang from inside the house, i didn’t know what it was but afterwards a even littler girl appeared inside the house. Great another person to pat me! So i sat at the door and they both came out and played with me. They went back inside and later came out in different clothes, and holding big colourful objects. They went close to the big blue pit and chucked the the object in and they floated at the top. they they submerged them selves in to it and they started to disappear only their heads were visible. They splashed water in the pit and i sat watching them scared of what the pit was like. After a while i was called to the edge and hands lifted me onto a hard foam yellow board, it was wobbly and i was then pushed away from the edge. After a tour circle around the pit i was reunited with the edge and happily jumped on to it. The two little ones left me alone for a while then again hands grabbed me and this time there was no dry ground. At first it was my feet then soon enough the rest of my body was submerged in water. My first instinct is to start to swim, slowly the arm around my tummy that was holding me up, let go and i sped straight to the edge of the pool, using doggy paddle. Then i hopped out and ran for my life to get away from the blue pit. When you thing about it it was like a bath but i couldn’t  touch the bottom, and i could have drowned!!

Anyway my first priority now was to get dry I run around and around the blue pit and roll in the grass, and the sand. After i do that i lounge in the grass plant thing. Then the girls notice me and let out a gasp. I of course going through all the things I'm not in my best state but i can’t be that bad! then i look at my feet they are completely muddy and grey. Whoops maybe the sand was a bad idea, but at least I'm dry…ish. Then I'm scooped up again and I'm placed in the water again, i guess its a good felling since all the sand is now washed off. Now this time i was scooped out of the water but not placed down, i was carried into a towel and rubbed furiously. Now this felt a lot better than sand but then she submerged back into the blue pit and i was left half wet again. So i went through the process of rubbing my self against everything again, then the two little ones signed and automatically and i looked down at my feet, they were grey and muddy, again. Oh well at least i was more dry now, but that wasn’t enough for those two, they are such persistent animals, and the next thing you know I'm in the blue pit again. This time though it was only my feet, and it was very quick with the towel under my feet. The two then stood back and looked at me and laughed, and said “we definitely need to give her a bath” then they went off back to the pit and left me alone for a while. After they were done all the floating colourful foam objects were taken out and sprayed with the hose. Then i was placed in a bath, although this time it was outside. The rest of it was pretty much the same but i was very skilfully guided around the sand so the same thing wouldn’t happen. Then i was dried and that was the end of the attention.
At this stage I was getting used to this life and wasn’t expecting much to change. I spent my first X'mas here with the little one's family and some friends of the bigger one.

Back to my first home

Until one day I am again, lifted into a car. Now I am confused again if i have been here for so long why do they want to take me somewhere else? I was perfectly happy here. Then the torture starts again and i am tumbling around this confined space, although this time i had more hope as in it was going to end, and what do you know? I was right. After ages the dizzying moment stopped and i was greeted with fresh air. By this time the sky was dark but everything was familiar, the scent in the breeze, and the surrounding building and trees. I was so exited this meant home, this meant family, but soon i was dragged by leash to the park down the road. I guess i didn’t mind it was a nice park, and familiar park with no big dogs. After a walk around on the dark grass, i was taken to an oval. Now here it was bright and spacious and i was let off the leash, but every time i went to sniff something i was called by the big and little one. At the same time they would dash to the other side of the oval and i chased them, but when i caught up there was nothing special so i dunno what that was about. This continued for a bit until i was lead back through the dark grass and to home. Everything was where it should be the door in the right place with the little step. We stood there for a while then someone opened the door, and by someone i meant owner. It hit me like a wave, owner, my owner, home. Family, i could hear them, smell them, sense them, they were close. At this moment i was dragged, happily, towards the sound of barking. the door opened and it was like nothing i ever experienced before, it was like i was a missing puzzle piece and i belonged. I was jumped on by fur, paws and wet noses, everyone was accounted for mum, dad, and brother. We fought over the ball.  It was the best play we had ever had.

Having said that they realised that when I was only a few weeks' old , I  was brought to thier home for a quick visit and my hair color was so golden brown.

Here I am on the lawn that I was familiar with; what have you noticed in compared with the picture uploaded above?

The little one has grown more mature and beautiful and so do I.

Daisy was so bad and cheeky

From here onwards, no more impersonation
For starters she is a puppy and loves chew so we brought her chew toys but she would do anything to any us and chewed everything else but the toy. This started off with shoes, we learnt this the hard way as we had our thongs outside and we went to school and work. By the time we got back home they were non-existent anymore and were just bits of colorful plastic strewn all over the back yard. From this we tried to tell her off but she continued to chew things so this meant that shoes were not to be kept outside unless you wanted them demolished. But this was only the start of our inconveniences, secondly she got bored while we were gone once there was no shoes to chew up she moved to our washing. This was even worse i don’t even know how long she spent puling every single one of our clothing items off the washing line and onto the ground. It must have been a work out for her and thank god she was to tired to actually rip them up. So we come home from school and see a little waging tail greeting us, we say to each other awww.. so welcoming… then we see the mess. All over the lawn is our washing dirty and grass stained. Another thing we know have to make sure that she can’t reach our washing or we have to hang it inside, or only have it out when were around. The cheeky little thing so naughty!!! Then things were alright we figured out how to work around her and nothing happened for a bit, then she decided to pry on us when we weren’t home, or not looking. I was at school and accidentally left my bedroom door open next thing you know it looks like a war zone with my clothing and bits and bob all over the place. It looked like she put her head on the shelf and pushed everything off the end.

The mischievous behavior got worse and one day we left the kitchen door open to go ice skating. She wandered into the rest of the house and caused havoc. First in the games room we had snacks from a sleepover, popcorn, Pringles, and they were all gone with a few Pringles all over the mattress.

Then the hot chips we got from go-carting- half a full box covered in mayo + salt GONE! She took this on herself and made herself so thirsty and she didn’t get dinner that night. Second in the the kitchen we had people over and we had a tiramisu cake, we walked people out on the drive way to say goodbye. Then we came inside; Daisy was on the kitchen table with her face in the left over cake, we yelled and she jumped down innocently, with cream all over her nose and mouth. There goes the cake with a dog's face print in it.

There was of course no escape when dog has its number one excreted in the wrong place. Daisy knows to get to toilet at the backyard which is outside but she mistaken the lounge being parallel to the backyard which is inside the house.

Daisy must be so bored during the day time that she continued to find things to do. She is clever to start from one side of the fence. Since then, more cable ties were put in. However she continues to show her wittiness and her high energy level.

She continued to chew lots of stuff around the house and we thought to buy her toys to chew and she basically torn one tennis ball per day. She continued to love thongs and any plastic things especially clothing pegs.

Sterilization and Heat

We want to do the right thing to register her but we realised that with her being sterilized, it will cost less and we thought about it whether the little thing needed to go through a major procedure or not but then learnt that if we don't sterilize her and when during her fertilization time, male dog from could force its way to mate with her. so we did  a few checking with price wise and went along with a $800 dollar one year program, hence any consultation would not cost during that 12 months and also monthly flea and heart worm treatment.

We then also booked her in for the sterilization program. on the day she was at the surgery, mum got a call and realized Daisy was about to have the 'heat' so they could not do the sterilization but they suggested to shave her as her hair was all matted.

In the first instance mum's explanation of not understanding the meaning of heat was hilarious as she thought Daisy has not been exposed to hot sun so not a chance to get a heat stroke and we did not put her near the heater. So here come a dog with not much hair and then as advised by the Vet, she was too thin (around 6 kg) and needed to feed her as much as we would to get her weight up for her sterilization. The heat was quite a bit of mess all around and lasted for a couple of weeks.

We waited for a month after her heat and got her sterilization done. Then did not realise that it would take 10 days for her to heal and in those ten days she needed to wear a collar to prevent her from licking of her wound and also she could not get out of the house for any exercise. We nursed her like a baby in the first few days.

Jog and Dog

We enrolled her to do a jog and dog run 4 km event at Murdoch University and it was quite fun for her,  we guess and also good exercise for mum and me.  We did it in 44 mins. It was a good event and we are looking forwarding to join next year and to improve the time.

Daisy was sick

All things were going alright and suddenly she started to refuse food and drink, she vomited and had a bad diarrhea,  she had no energy and looked quite sick. She was so dehydrated that the Vet suggested to require drips but too expensive, $250 per day,  so we chose to get a syringe to inject water through her mouth - not an easy task and of course Daisy hated that. She had two injections of pain killer and anti-biotics as to ensure that nothing she ate infected her. We were also advised to ensure she could not chew for things that contained particles that might be swallowed.

Daisy was not well again, this time, it was mum's fault for leaving the baby gate unlocked so Daisy pushed it out and got attracted and tempted to the mud cake left on the dining table.

How almost a full mud cake got eaten

The following was a diary written by Marina impersonating Daisy about this Vet visit experience.

So here i am again stuck in the laundry while the little and big one go out to some unknown place. They can sometimes take forever or are back before i know it. Either way i sleep and chew stuff with nothing else to do. The time though i did’t feel like doing either of these things i was bored of sleeping i just woke up and all my toys looked pretty boring, so i sat at the baby gate and waited hoping that this time it would be quick and they would come back to play with me. Eventually i realised this wasn’t the case, it felt like forever and still no one came. I was getting really impatient, maybe they were just out there and forgot to let me out. This felt like a plausible answer, but as i stuck my muzzle in the gap of the baby gate i realise that the door to the kitchen was open. If only i could get out and that would mean I could go around the house and see for myself if they are home, or i could wait at the front of the door so i can see them sooner once they get home. With nothing else to do i thought to give it a try the only thing standing in my way was the baby gate. Sometimes the little one would try and coax me out with food and show me to push the door and it would open, so i started scratching at the gate and what do u know it, it opened a bit but then quickly swung shut. The door looked pretty heavy and i didn’t want it to slam into me, so i kept the routine of scratching at it so i would push open but the gap was still to small and before you know it, it was shut again. The few seconds in between were my only chance and i finally bundled up enough bravery to push my way through the tiny gap and as i went through the door it wedged it open more and suddenly i was in the rest of the house. I was free, now to see if they were home. In my mind i knew what i needed to do but a delicious scent came from the kitchen table top, oh yes i wanted whatever that was. No one was home so i could just have some. I hoped on the the chair then onto the table top. In front of me was a whole chocolate cake, score! I went to take a mouthful but all the packaging was terribly hard to open with paws. After countless tries i decided to push it to the floor and the container lid fell off and i was left with access the beloved cake. I gorged myself it was the best, something sweet which was special as with my biscuits i don’t get that. The icing on the top was very sticky though and chewing that was hard it got stuck everywhere so i flipped the cake over and ate all the cake bit. It was the best, i was so stuffed I just couldn’t at anymore. Then i realised my initial task at hand which i got completely side-tracked by. Well there defiantly was no one home. Now i felt like a nap all that chocolatey goodness in my tummy, hmmmm, thats all i think of as i drift of into sleep.

Suddenly i am woken up by the squeaky sound of the garage door, my owners! their home. I run the front door my tail wagging furiously, but their reaction is not what i expected. They were completely surprised like they have never seen me before and that surprise tuned into worry. I was confused when they opened the door in such a hurry, I guess i did get out of the laundry and get a snack, it couldn’t be that bad. I knew i would probably get told off but it would be worth it. I watch them charge into the house searching for something and now I'm guessing the cake, and saw that it was a little mess that i made… it wasn’t even that bad but they looked really distressed. While they were rushing around to clean up I was just laying down feeling very satisfied with myself, and everything was going on like normal but then they quickly got me into the car. I was really excited I felt really hyped up and I thought this day was going to be great going to a new park as well after a great meal, but we ended up at the vet, i didn’t mind that much i got lots of pats, but then i was left behind and the little one and big one left. Then i was feeling really sick and they put me in a little cage, i didn’t like it was worse then the laundry. Eventually though they came and picked me up again and they looked really happy to see me and so i was brought back home. They sighed and a bit annoyed with the money spent on me at the Vet.

Nasty Cut by scissors

(Impersonate by Rosita)
It was a very very hot day in Perth, almost 40 degrees. Marina (the little one), Rosita (the big one) were on the way back from Bremar Bay where they were there for since 22nd January. Stephanie came to feed and walk and play with me.
Stephanie a very lovely and kind hearted girl firstly found me very dirty and alerted Marina that I needed to be bathed and then she saw how long the hair I had and decided to cut it with a pair of scissors. She has been very careful throughout until it got closer to the inner side of one leg where it is much harder to cut and accidentally she cut one spot and it was not so serious so she continued then the next one was more severe as a piece of skin is almost cut off. she was frightened and located some antiseptic cream and left a note for Marina.
The tiring troop arrived back home at around 6:45pm, then the next minute Marina found the note left by Stephanie regarding what had happened. everyone was worried but everyone could not do a thing.
I was taken to the Vet the next day and the wound could have been even worse and the Vet prescribed me with some anti-inflammatory / anti-bacterial and anti-itch cream. However that made things worse as it was so uncomfortable and stinging (appeared) that caused me to scratch and ripped the cut. We ended up going back to the Vet again and this time, glue was applied to close the cut and my left leg was bandaged so that prevented me from reaching the would. As a result, for three weeks I was not able to be taken out for walk because the cut prevent the collar to be tied on. It was the most frustrating experience I had. I was taken back to the Vet every week to change the bandage and each time they gave me a different color bandage. Look , I got a pink one this time.

Doggie Training Course

Visitors called Gary came to stay and he decided to trim my fur. He bought a normal human trimmers and after shaving the tail and my head, it was too much for him and that was how I looked.

Marina begged to take me to a proper groomer as she refused to take me to dog training. when I arrived at the dog training ground, the trainer thought we brought along another dog.

The training package was a gift from my previous owner Macy to Marina for her x'mas. It was fun and I got to interact with other dogs and the biggest gain is to teach me to walk along side of Marina and Rosita. I tend to push to go forward and the trick is for them to walk back and pull me back to square one so the more that I pull, the more that I get pull back and not able to reach where I want to go to. The six classes also gave me to show off how quick i was able to learn tricks and won myself a toy.

On the last day there was a competition to check which dog are able to do all the tricks in the shortest time and you know what, I won.

Eye Infection

Not a good two months for everyone. Daisy firstly had an eye infection which required ointment to be applied onto her left eye. For the first couple of times, we almost wasted half of the tube before we could get the ointment into her eye, but we got skillful after a few practice. A collar was required again for a bout a week as to prevent her from rubbing the ointment off. Then came one day she looked not energetic, not lively which you could tell it was just behaving in an unusual way. She did not sleep as much as usual and her eyes were starring at her like begging for something but we could not figure out what went wrong. the vet checked and found she was not dehydrated, no pale gum and flesh around eye was OK, body temperature was at high end, 38.2 but no sore or tender spot. But the only thing that was different was she was given another type of dog food (Advance dental care). We did try to give her half and half with the change of food but obviously her stomach is super sensitive and could not tolerate; after a couple of days we tried another small handful but she threw up so another trip to the Vet. We were covered by a 700 dollars package and we wonder if we shall continue or to get insurance instead. then the vet recommended to cook rice and chicken to settle her stomach, at the same time Marina's digestive system has got some issue of not able to digest her food like normal, like master, like dog. I could cook the same meal for both of them now.
We decided to continue with a all year free consultation program which costed at around $370 and that included the annual immunization but not the heart worm or flea treatment.

What happened when Marina and Rosita were on holiday?

We had a planned holiday to go to Sydney and it is so good that Jena, mum's God mother is able to come to feed Daisy twice a day and walked her if possible.

Done a runner

"No matter how, she is still not to be trusted" Marina said.
One day Daisy was let outside accompanying mum doing gardening and by the time mum realised she was gone. Diasy had already walked down to the end of Rostrata Avenue and was picked up by one of the residents living at Jerome Place. They sent mum a message - as we put the phone number on Daisy's collar.

A phone message exchange regarding a dog decided to do a runner
Hi Peter, Just a quick message to thank again to pick Daisy up and you save my day as I was the one who trusted the dog would hang around which appeared that it is not the case, Rosita

Hi Rosita, not a problem, only glad to have been able to help !
Glad she is back home 😊

Looking for a groomer

We are now waiting for her to get her hair cut, was way overdue and never realised we had to wait for that long for a groomer and also it is so so expensive. The cost of her hair cut equals to two of ours. Marina said Daisy could not sit still liked us,  Daisy has 4 legs, two years, one tail that required exceptional skills, experience and patience to complete the grooming. We looked into the grooming course and realised it is a 12 months full time course. when she was scratching and got annoyed with the fur, Marina felt sorry for her and commented that how she felt for her and that commented that it was not easy to be a mum as she knows she was not feeling right but she cannot do anything.

Before her grooming, hair is long and easy to get knots. Also, the hair covers her eyes.

After grooming, she looks quite skinny and not so cute either.

Diasy ate some poisonous stuff - impersonation

4th May 2019

A day that scared the hell out of my dear mum Marina.
I vomited one time after another time while we were out walking, Marina was so scared and was afraid I could have passed out.  She walked back home with me in your hands, I was floppy and unresponsive. She rang the vet, and the staff give me an appointment and when asked even if I was not given an appointment , Marina  would take me to the emergency in the hospital, she had not had a second thought regarding cost. She was very worried during the car ride but when arriving at the vet she felt relieved, cos I had already bounced back a bit. I was in the good hands of a good vet as she taught mum and grandma that if I was interested in taking food, drink which was an usual behavior of me then no one should worry too much. To be cautious, the vet gave me charcoal and an injection to stop me from vomiting again. I was not sure what I had eaten, but that could be some mulch at the back garden as they simply smelt so good. mum and grandma was afraid I took the rat bait but with the time lag, that might not be the case.
One thing that grandma said to mum was she was wondering if she would continue the open door policy as I did not use often enough. Just a few days later, I had those symptoms,  mum told grandma that she jinxed it.

Daisy's 4th birthday Party

(It was impersonated by Marina)

My 4th birthday party on 27th July. ON 26th July night time, I kept on hearing the frustrations of Marina that how come most of the recipes for dog cookies or cakes contains either peanut butter or banana, two things Marina was severely allergic to. They eventually found one biscuit recipe and when it was baked, it turned out to be quite edible to them and they gave me a piece to taste. Then they moved on to make cake but it did not turn out to the way they wanted to but too bad, it was almost mid night already.

In the morning of 27th, Rosita cooked some spare ribs and tuna sushi for the adults, then warm up some party pies, sausage rolls and Dagwood dog for the kids. It turned out to be such a beautiful day.

Good to see Macy, Russ and Xavier. Not sure if Xavier remembered that we stayed under the same roof for many days in April in Stirling.

Naomi, Jeremy brought along not only their kids (Alice and Jacob), but also Jamie and Sophie, I was very happy. I met them in their house once, they were bigger than me (Kelpie) but I was OK.

The biggest surprise was to see Wendy with her dog Morty- an italian greyhound, he looked so cute and he was so fast in movement.

I love being cuddled and in no time I was on Wendy's lap. also that allowed me to see what food was on the table.

Jamie however was locked away as he was not that friendly to non kelpie.

We dogs had a ball !

Among 4 of us, we ate all the biscuits.

The birthday cake was ok and I think Marina needs to put a bit more effort in to make it a bit more appetizing.

Thanks to everyone who attended my birthday and am looking forward to having another one soon.

Annual Teeth Cleaning

Another costly exericse is to have Daisy's teeth cleaned, normal human would be around 200 and her teeth cleaning is around 400-500. Typical dog, they would not sit still for you to clean her teeth, she needs to be under sedation.

After cleaning

We had tried everything such as cleaning her teeth (she refused to open her mouth); giving her raw bone; dental sticks and biscuits; unforutnately she swallowed food and did not chew on them so all these years we could only rely on dental cleaning at the Vet.

Life time Medication

I was found to have drops of pee left on my bed so the vet prescribed me with a medication(Propalin) that I need to have two times in a day for my life time and I just did not like it.

Enjoying my life

In winter, I enjoyed sun bathing outside whenever I could, as during the weekdays, both big and small ones were out until late afternoon.

Marina is extremely creative and clever, look she took a photo of Diasy's reflection on the gym ball !

Another Disaster

Another day Daisy must have realised if she tipped the bin over, there could be lots of food. To her, the left over was food. Of course when they came home,  they were very angry, she was 'naughty, naughty' and the result being kicked out of the house for a short while.

Sick Again

Daisy was again required some medical attention as the vet found blood in her . After ultra sound and urine test, see those result, they could not find any issue but she was still given some medication to be put into her food which made food tasted awful.

Attraction of the bin again

Daisy must have too much energy or the food she had contained sugar, when we were out, she apparently enjoyed checking things over by over turning items or pulling things onto the floor.

She went through the bin again as it contained lots of fatty chicken skin and could have left over mushroom which was toxic etc, so the vet wanted us to add charcoal onto her food so as to reduce the stomach upset. She however refused to cooperate to eat food with charcoal.

With what Daisy did, I guess she just want to let us know how bore when she is in the house on your own throughout the day.

Europe Trip

Europe Trip

Europe trip meant Daisy was left with a dog sitter whom was the operator of the grooming business. Before they left, they cooked all rice, meat and vegetables and freezed them as Daisy's stomach is sensitive to the dog food purchased from the shelf. The dog sitter simply defrosted the food.

Haru

Two times this year another dog came to live with me.
Daisy was so stressed with this one called Haru living with us for two nights. Haru did not like eating food so Daisy decided to help herself to finish for her. But Marina wanted to make sure Haru had food so she had to hand fed her. What kind of a dog that does not like food !

Also Daisy did not like her being disturbed from sleeping. Haru however was a puppy, she was full of energy and playful.

Morty

The next one called Morty, he is better. Morty belongs to my previous owner Wendy. He looks very skinny with not much hair, so different from the chubby and hairy Daisy.

Morty saw me sleeping on the sofa so he took himself up to the other one which we needed to give him a blanket to rest on. To be honest, I had never been allowed on those nice recliner.
May be it is winter time so we both wanted warmth but because he did not have much hair so he came to sleep next to me. Do I really want to share my bed??

Moving to a new home

(impersonation again)

We had a very busy year  I saw Rosita and Marina packed things into boxes and then moved those boxes away. Previously I hated seeing them taking out suitcases as that would mean they were going away. This time, for more than one and a half year, they moved lots of things to the verge and had them collected during the Council verge collection (Two times of verge collection per year).  Then, a number of workmen came to fix up the roof; to repaint a few rooms including the bathroom and the front study. They had lots of difficulties to fix up the scratches and paint lost on the door leading to the living room. They thought to replace with a new one but too expensive. I still could not understand what they were trying to do.  They had a machine which looked liked a gun but it helped to clean all the areas especially I had never realised the pavers around the swimming pool was in cream color as it was always grey before.  The house was getting emptier day by day. Until one day, I was taken to another place and both of them told me that that is our new home.

The new home is much smaller than the previous one, but it has a door for me to go in and out of the backyard where they tell me I can do my business on a piece of lawn that is specially prepared for me. It takes a bit of courage to go pass that little door.

Once moved in for about a week, the little one packed her suitcase and left, I was quite disappointed to see her leaving but I did not know in fact she needed to leave for a total of three months. That is our first very long separation.

Rosita continues to take me out for two walks but where we walk to is completely different from where I used to walk. We sometimes walk around the neighbourhood, we sometimes go to a Park which is very shady and is excellent if it is hot and sunny. Finally the best walk is to walk along the river where I can other dogs, people having picnic, fishing and there are plenty of water ducks, seagulls and occasionlly black swans.

In the old house, Daisy has a sofa of her own. And when we move to the new house, due to limited space, we bought a single sofa bed and has it put in the living room and when guest come, we shift the bed to the study. Daisy in no time has claimed the sofa bed as her comfy chair and since then we cover it with a blanket plus having two cushions for decorations.

Comfy Chair

Daisy's toilet

First one built with removing the three quarter's of the coarse pavers and new lawn was put in.

Second one put in as we decided to remove the square coarse pavers for bigger sandstone pavers and we made her lawn bigger.

Family Gathering

I had a Christmas dinner with the Phan family (Macy, Wendy, Jenny and Michael) are the previous owners of Daisy, so I took Daisy along and from the photo we could see Morty.

2024

Most expensive and scary medical episode
No change in taking food while we were away

Most expensive and scary medical episode

Rosita went to Hong Kong for a good friend's daughter's wedding and then Marina was at New York for her animation internship. They met at the HK airport and flew back to Perth on 28th Feb, 2024. They went to pick up Daisy the next day and Daisy was of course very happy. We then got back to our normal rountine with walks and food etc. However on monday 4th March, Daisy started to vomit and refused to take food. It was a public holiday so we went to the emergency at Cannington. They gave her medication to stop her from throwing up and we came home. We even teased saying we had never seen Daisy refused food.

At around 2am, Rosita woke Marina up saying Daisy was lying on the groud with not much response. She was taken back to the emergency immediately (less than 20 minutes from home) and they said she was very dehydrated. She required drips (fluid therapy) immediately and the drip for each hour is $100 dollars. We would not hesitate to let the Vet to perform what was necessary. We went home worrying to death but could not do much. The vet said we could visit her in the afternoon, so we cooked some rice porridge for her. She was a bit better and was able to eat a few spoonful.

Daisy was already showing her liveliness and appetite for food. What a relieve! However, she still needs to be on drips for another night so we sadly had to leave.

At the emergency, she had various blood tests and disnostic imaging. Another specialist ultra sound after she was discharged (close to 48 hours) was done to eleminate medhcnical ileus (obstruction) or tumor.
The total bill for her stay was $4842.20 plus another specialist ultra sound $400.
According to the notes sent back from the Vet:
1. Daisy was treated for melena (bleeding in the upper GI tract) as to explain black, foul smelling stool
2.  Due to diarrhoea, her protein level was low
3.  With no drinking and eating, she was seriously dehydrated (research : 10% dehydration is considered as serious)
4. Due to unknown causes, (parasites, viruses, bacteroi, (clostridium perfingerns) so antibiotic and some medication was adminstered.

Four days of ordeal was over, we felt we made the right decison to bring her in as soon as we found her unresponsive.

No change in taking food or other stuff while we were away

At this new home, there are two bar chairs sitting near the kitchen bench, Rosita is always careless and very often Daisy could jump up to the chairs then took whatever edible from the bench top or from the sink. These were her recent mischievous.

She was obviously bored so not just taking food but removed some stuff from the bench to her bed.

Oh, my cake bought from Costsco😕
